Each
year The Good Hope School hosts three major fundraising events:
the Calcutta Tennis Tournament, the Gala and Auction, and the Annual
Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit. We are grateful to our greater island
community and its many constituencies who lend their considerable
support to our school through these annual events. For more information
about our tennis tournament, gala and auction, or art exhibit and
sale, please contact the Development Office and speak to Director
of Development Susan Kraeger or Development Coordinator Eileen Skeoch

Annual
Gala and Auction

The
Good Hope School’s annual gala and auction began as The Big
Auction on Sunday afternoons in the early 1980s. Today, the gala
takes place on the Saturday night of Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
This themed evening includes a silent and live auction, cocktails
and dinner for 200-plus guests, and dancing. A significant portion
of the money Good Hope raises for scholarships for our students
is raised at this event. Individuals and the St. Croix business
community play an important role in the success of this event with
the purchase of sponsorships, and the donation of goods and services.

The
Annual Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit
In
1987, Good Hope parents and the St. Croix artist community began
a mutually beneficial collaboration to raise money for scholarships
for Good Hope students – at the same time providing a venue
for our generous and talented local artists to exhibit and sell
their work. This eagerly anticipated three-day exhibit and sale
takes place over the Presidents Day weekend and draws hundreds of
patrons to The Good Hope School’s Campus Center. Each year,
one artist is chosen to submit artwork for the much coveted Caribbean
Fine Art Exhibit Poster. A community-wide event on many levels,
students from all the island’s schools are invited to visit
the exhibit the Friday before it opens for docent tours and one-on-one
time with the artists who are eager to share their talent and technique
with the children. ARTISTS, please

The
Good Hope Annual Calcutta Tennis Tournament
The
Calcutta Tennis Tournament was founded in 1992 by a group of Good
Hope parents who were avid tennis enthusiasts. Traditionally held
in mid-September, this tournament kicks off St. Croix’s tennis
tournament season. Its unique format of mixed doubles made up of
teams randomly paired makes it fun and exciting for all levels of
players. The Calcutta auction allows supporters to purchase teams
the night of the pairings. Held at the Buccaneer Tennis Club this
tournament supports Good Hope faculty professional development.
