A
commitment to the success of each child anchors the mission
of The Good Hope School. Central to this belief is a shared
dedication to excellence. The educational program provides
a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that guides a
student’s ability to think critically, creatively,
independently, and globally.
Our
dynamic faculty and staff encourage young people to achieve
their full potential, not only intellectually, but also
in their artistic and athletic endeavors. Within the Good
Hope community there is an enduring respect for the differences
reflected in our multicultural environment. The continued
development of strength of character, sound values, and
a passion for learning is a hallmark of the Good Hope
experience.
The
Good Hope School is dedicated to serving qualified students
from all over St. Croix who can contribute to and benefit
from the Good Hope’s programs. In making decisions,
the admissions committee considers academic ability, school
performance and citizenship, developmental maturity, self-motivation,
talents, readiness for the program, attendance records,
family support for the child and the institution, and ability
of the School to serve the needs of the child and family.
The admissions committee makes recommendations to the Head
of School, who has ultimate authority and sole discretion
in the decision whether or not to admit or re-enroll a student.
All information provided to The Good Hope School during
the admissions process is strictly confidential and becomes
the property of Good Hope. It is not available for any disclosure.
The Good Hope School does not discriminate on the basis
of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, or national
or ethnic origin in the administration of its admissions,
financial assistance, educational, or other school policies.
Please be advised that all students new to Good Hope are
accepted on a probationary status for the first semester.
In most cases students are no longer on probation after
the first semester.
The Good Hope School adheres to an age cut-off for entrance
into all grades. The prospective student must be of appropriate
age for their particular grade by September 1st of the current
school year.
The
Main Campus, formerly a Rockefeller resort, covers 32 beautiful
seaside acres at the west end of the Melvin Evans Highway
(Route 66). Our central administrative building located
on the beach houses the Primary Grades, Intermediate Grades,
and Middle School. The Upper School classrooms, science
lab, and facilities are on the north side of the campus.
Centrally located are the Ward M. Canaday Memorial Library,
the Technology Center, and the Edward C. Dale Pavilion.
The Campus Center and the James C. Savage Center for the
Performing Arts are located near the western edge of the
campus where an adjacent parking area is available for visitors.
A swimming pool, shower and locker facilities, playgrounds,
weight room, athletic fields, and music and art rooms, round
out the Main Campus.
The Good Hope School Early Childhood Program for 2 ½
to 5 year old children is available at both The Good Hope
School Main Campus and our East End Campus located in Estate
All for the Better two miles east of Christiansted. This
facility, occupying a thoughtfully repurposed house, provides
spacious classrooms and a large outdoor playground for our
East End students. Frequent visits to the Good Hope Main
Campus for assemblies and events are part of the East End
curriculum.
