Two seniors at The Good Hope School have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for their outstanding performance on the 2009 PSAT exams. As finalists in the national competition, Ashleé Douglas ’10 and Biko Robb ’10 will each receive a $2,500 scholarship to the college of their choice. “It was a nice surprise being recognized for all the effort that I put into preparing for and taking the tests,” said Mr. Robb. “And, it is a huge honor,” Ms. Douglas added. Ms. Douglas is hoping to be accepted to the University of Miami to pursue a career in sound engineering, while Mr. Robb’s first choice is Brown University, where he hopes to study physics and French.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students are automatically entered when they take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)– which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.5 million entrants each year. Only 15,000 students are recognized finalists in the competition.

“We are very proud of our National Merit Scholars Ashleé and Biko,” declared Head of School Raquel Cedano.
