Leslie Hamdorf Interim Head of Upper School,
The Good Hope School
Ms. Hamdorf
to Present at National Conference on Geography Education In
San Juan
The Good
Hope School’s Interim Head of Upper School Leslie Hamdorf
will lead a workshop at the National Conference on Geography
Education (NCGE) to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, September
23 to 27. Ms. Hamdorf’s presentation, America’s
Paradise, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands Through
Different Lenses, will explore the many facets and paradoxes
of St. Croix. Starting with a brief overview of the island’s
history from the time it was Ay Ay, through its colonization
under seven flags, Ms. Hamdorf will explore the common thread
of geography connecting all cultures, and will conclude with
how the current population of St. Croix manages to sustain
a traditional culture while embracing its role in the international
world.
The NCGE
conference, held annually, is open to national and international
geography educators from K through Grade 12 as well as at
the college and university level.
