Good Hope hosted its Second Annual Fun Day at Queen Louise Home Saturday, May 10th. The Fun Day is part of “Good Works at Good Hope,” a community outreach program. The morning's activities began with a reading of “Skippy John Jones” under the big tree outside the courtyard by Fourth Grade teacher, Sana Hamed-Asad. Afterwards Good Hope volunteers paired up with Queen Louise residents for games. Children rotated through activities such as the duck pond, face painting and t-shirt painting. As a group, the students participated in an egg toss and scooter racing. The finale event was the cake walk, a favorite, especially for one of the residents of the Sister Emma Cottage who played DJ!

Sixteen Good Hope students and twelve parents and teachers participated in the event. Good Hope continues to look for ways to interact with the community in positive ways. “Our students are exposed to and enriched by helping others as a way of life,” commented Head of School, Michael Mongeau who participated again this year with his daughter. The Queen Louise Home was founded in 1904 and continues to take in children who need the help they are unable to receive at home and is part of Lutheran Social Services. Nineteen children including five from the Sister Emma Cottage took part in the activities.
