Today The Good Hope School's Middle and Upper School Faculty participated in a workshop on how to help students become engaged in an active learning process, which will support the upcoming READAK training being offered mid-semester. This special faculty workshop was led by Steven Kimball, Director and CEO of READAK. It was designed to help the faculty implement techniques that will be taught in the student course on a daily basis by lecture structure, class seating, and material review.
The READAK course will be offered to students in grades 5 through 12 and will help the students improve their method of reading and studying. The unique aspect of the course is that students can apply new study skills immediately in their daily course work. The faculty training will compliment the student's efforts by allowing them to reinforce the techniques taught.
READAK, International has been offering courses to independent schools in the US and abroad since 1957. The course covers active classroom learning through the Cornell note taking technique, vocabulary development and reading comprehension techniques, the implementation of time management strategies, and new test taking strategies for classroom and standardized exams.
