The Twentieth Annual Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit, St. Croix 's most established and prestigious annual gathering of Caribbean artists, will be held during Presidents' Weekend, February 2007. The Exhibit opens on Friday, February 16, 2007 with an Art Preview and Reception from 7 - 9 p.m. , which is one of the island's highlights. The show is open on February 17th and 18th from 10 am - 4 p.m. and on February 19th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. There is no admission fee to view the show on the 17th, 18th or 19th, however there is a ticket charge of $25 in advance and $30 at the door for the opening night Art Preview and Reception on the 16th. Tickets are available at Kicks, Undercover Books, H&H Tire, and The Good Hope School.

The Exhibit will feature original artwork as well as prints, photography, note cards, and posters from over 70 Caribbean artists. All artwork is for sale and a portion of the proceeds benefit The Good Hope School Scholarship Fund.

The Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit is such a huge annual success because the quality of the artwork is outstanding and patrons have nearly 600 pieces to see in one, beautifully arranged room. Nowhere else in the Caribbean can you choose from watercolors to oils to photos to sculpture; this is a truly unique experience on St. Croix.

Phyllis Biddle is the poster artist for the Twentieth Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit. Her painting, "By Bethlehem Road," is used on posters and postcards to promote the exhibit throughout the Virgin Islands . Ms. Biddle attended Yale Art School and has an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth in Painting and Printmaking. She has exhibited widely throughout New England and Virginia . Her paintings are in many corporate collections, including The Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond and private collections including The Peck School in Morristown , N.J. and the Robert J. Kennedy Family's private collection. She is the Upper School art teacher and Chairperson for the art department at The Good Hope School.

Virgin Island Council on the Arts has funded, in part, an educational outreach program for the annual exhibit. This year over 250 students, from ten St. Croix Schools, will tour the exhibit Friday, February 16, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Docents will lead interactive tours while artists will be at hand to demonstrate techniques. The goals for the program are to increase St. Croix students' exposure to the visual arts in a formal setting; empower students through the realization that the majority of these successful artists are from their own community; and illustrate that our island home is an inspiration for artists and art enthusiasts all over the world.

The Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit significantly contributes to the enrichment of the St. Croix community by providing an opportunity to experience the multi-cultural and varied ethnic backgrounds and styles of our island. Also, many of St. Croix 's most prestigious artists got their start at the Fine Art Exhibit. After twenty successful years, The Good Hope School Fine Arts Exhibit holds a well-earned reputation for being an outstanding, professional show which benefits everyone.
