The Nineteenth Annual Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit, St. Croix 's most established and prestigious annual gathering of Caribbean artists, will be held during Presidents' Weekend in February 2006. The Exhibit opens on Friday, February 17, 2006 with an Art Preview and Reception from 7 - 9 pm , which is one of the island's highlights. The show is open on February 18th and 19th from 10 am - 4 pm and on February 20th from 10am - 2pm . There is no admission fee to view the show on the 19th, 19th or 20th, however there is a ticket charge of $20 in advance and $25 at the door for the opening night Art Preview and Reception on the 17th.
The Exhibit will feature original artwork as well as prints, photography, note cards, and posters from over 70 Caribbean artists. All artwork is for sale and a portion of the proceeds benefit The Good Hope School. |

The Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit is such a huge annual success because the quality of the artwork is outstanding and patrons have nearly 600 pieces to see in one, beautifully arranged room. Nowhere else in the Caribbean can you choose from watercolors to oils to photos to sculpture; this is a truly unique experience on St. Croix .
Rosalyn Smith-Taylor is the poster artist for the Nineteenth Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit. Her painting, "Woman with Gourd Bowls," is used on posters and postcards to promote the exhibit throughout the Virgin Islands . A native of St. Thomas , Ms. Smith-Taylor paints full time as well as works full time all over the US for FEMA helping to manage emergency relief work forces.
The Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit significantly contributes to the enrichment of the St. Croix community by providing an opportunity to experience the multi-cultural and varied ethnic backgrounds and styles of our island. Also, many of St. Croix 's most prestigious artists got their start at the Fine Art Exhibit. After nineteen successful years, The Good Hope School Fine Arts Exhibit holds a well-earned reputation for being an outstanding, professional show which benefits everyone. |
