This Friday and Saturday, September 24 th and 25 th , the entire GHS faculty will participate in a workshop on Emotional intelligence. The program will be led by Josh Freedman, Director of Programs for the Six Seconds organization. This is a non-profit organization based in California which has emerged as an international leader in developing emotional intelligence (EQ) for schools to create a more positive, engaging learning environment.

"Emotional intelligence is the inner capacities that let us create optimal relationships with ourselves and others. The skills include using thoughts, feelings, and actions to build self-knowledge, self-management, and self-direction," says Josh Freedman.

"Educating the next generation is perhaps the most important task in our world. Yet it's fraught with challenge and complexity," states Freedman.  Emotional intelligence (EQ) is emerging as a critical factor in high performance at work, at school, and at home.

This weekend, the GHS faculty will be focusing on skills that can be brought into their classroom environments such as:

- How to be smart about the feelings that drive us and our students

- Essential tools for overcoming "impossible" challenges

- Powerful mechanisms to create effective communication

GHS teachers and staff are looking forward to this opportunity to continue the development of strength of character, sound values and a passion for learning that is a hallmark of the Good Hope experience.
